The Farmers Agri-care monthly mug played on Saturday 12 June 2021, in perfect late autumn weather and mild temps drew nineteen golfers with five apologies for not being able to play, one late withdrawal and the development golfers that were invited and sponsored but had another golfing commitment.  Besides these wonderful numbers for a mug we had four husband and wife entries as well as the director for Crowe farming , Mathew Crowe and our sponsor Patrick O’ Sullivan from Farmers Agri-care. The TLB hire specialist Andre Liddemore, wearing a floppy wide-brimmed hat, floated on the fairways like a butterfly and Merwin Rabe all the way from Umhlali were some of the players to mention.

The shot of the day however belonged to Merwin Rabe, when on the fifth hole, on his third shot, had a hundred meter shot into the par 5 stroke 12 hole, and carded an eagle when the ball disappeared into the cup. On hole one, the Irishman Paddy O’Sullivan took the fight to the other golfers, when he chipped in for a birdie and Caroline Cloete showed that what Paddy can do, Caroline can too and had a birdie on the par 4, 8th hole and is reminded about the local rule… swim if you get a birdie on the 8th or 17th. Her approach landed one meter from the pin.

The greens that were mowed Saturday morning were fast and had the same tricky pin positions that were used on the Arcadia day. The fairways are starting to look hard and dry but still showing a green colour, as the frost has not arrived in it’s severity.
