The Farmers Agri-care Monthly Mug players on Saturday 8 February 2025, were met with the normal St Cathryn’s wind that comes off the dam. It can cause havoc when playing the third and twelth holes… pushing the ball towards the water. But when playing the ninth and eighteenth holes, an extra club is recommended because the short distance of only between 141m and 143 meters – and many a golfer gets caught short over that distance.
With members attending Josh Meyers’ wedding and other golfers on a sponsored get away, the golfers playing in the mug enjoyed the outing and golf camaraderie with fellow mates. Three scholars and one of our lady members, a visitor from Silver Lakes, a retired headmaster and others made up the field.
The going is tough at the moment with ideal growing conditions for the kikuyu grassed fairways. The scarified greens have responded well to the treatment and are running nicely, 9.8 on the stimp meter.
