The Farmers Agri-care monthly mug played on Saturday 8 March 2025, drew a small competitive field, but without the young guns from school, The Gifford and du Preez clan as well as captain Van Wyk and many others. However the farm gate was left open for an old competitor who last won the mug over two decades ago, playing only with irons, dedicated to keeping his temperament, normally quiet spoken and enjoying his new clubs – pulled it off. A regular visitor on the right hand side of the board by taking the Captains putter he snuck through with a well deserved win.

The Standard bank pairs were also played and there are now four Better ball teams all with 43 points. With one round to go 43 is the number to beat. Hannes du Plessis and Dieter Meyer on two outings now share the lead with other pairings, Troy Gifford and Merwin Rabe and now Nel and Moore, who drove up especially to play in the mug and pairings , have joined the fold. Two of our juniors, Matt Du Preez and Josh Gifford now both turned 18, will now be eligible to play in the Standard Bank pairings , and both sent out a warning they will be the pairings to look out for.
St Cathryn’s members are preparing to go on their annual Free State tour and preparations is also underway for the Mascor St Cathryn’s club championship to be played on the 12 and 13th of April 2025.
