Promoting ladies golf and encouraging beginner golfers to participate in a golf tournament that is relaxed and non-pressured, was main aim behind Hermannsburg’s HOLE LOTTA FUN Ladies Golf Bash, hosted at St Cathryn’s Golf Estate, this past Sunday, 5 December.

Twenty-six golfers participated in a 9-hole scramble-all-the-way format, which meant there was a lot less unpleasant hacking out the rough. Nevertheless, the challenging course exacted its usual sacrifice of a number of balls. Fortunately, there were some fun spot-prizes for golfers to win on the 5th hole (as reward for making it past what is probably one of the toughest holes on the course) and a fun nearest-the-pin compo on the 9th, won hands-down by Stephanie Larkan.

First place went to Stacey & Matt Reed, followed hot on the heels by Astrid Gifford and André Mulder, with Amber-Paige Saunders and Matt Dellis coming in third.

“Many of us are still learning, so this is an event where we don’t take ourselves too seriously and just enjoy each other’s company and the picturesque outdoors at St Cathryn’s,” said organiser Brigitte du Preez. “The intention is definitely to turn this into an annual event, to continue to promote ladies
golf.” All funds raised from the event went towards Hermannsburg School’s Germany Exchange Programme for 2023.
